The charter’s goal, formally signed to mark the day as World Cancer Day, was to save millions of cancer-related preventable deaths by granting wings to a common project in which the whole world will synchronize and battle the cancer epidemic. An article was included in the charter which specifies that the day of signature of the constitution will be called World Cancer Day.

The importance of World Cancer Day

The global epidemic of cancer is immense and is set to grow. Currently, 8.2 million people die per year from cancer globally, 4 million of whom are premature deaths (aged 30 to 69 years). To increase awareness of the disease and to develop realistic solutions to overcome the cancer burden, immediate action needs to be taken. There are exponentially rising global gaps in access to prevention, recovery, and palliative care.

World Cancer Day is the best time to spread the message and lift the image of cancer in the minds of individuals, in the media around the world, and on the national agenda for health and development.

Read Also: Cancer Prevention: Tips To Cut Your Risk

How is World Cancer Day celebrated?

Government organizations are
coordinating numerous cancer awareness camps, lectures, and seminars around the
globe. Several laws are adopted, monitoring mechanisms are enforced and
citizens enter the mass effort. The key aim of the event is to spread awareness
about cancer to everyday people. In order to make it more results-oriented and
to reduce the mortality percentage each year, the WCD event is celebrated each
year with a specific theme. In order to save people from cancer, so many
campaigns are being run.

Take a minute to focus on the effect of cancer on you, and then commit to taking constructive steps, whether it’s contributing time or resources, arranging a doctor’s appointment, or having a healthy mealtime option today.

Read Also: Kidney Cancer: Causes | Symptoms | Stages | Treatment

Prevention

With basic nutritional and lifestyle
changes, cancer prevention is possible. These changes encourage good wellbeing
and control the risk of cancer. Let’s talk about any changes to lifestyles that
can make a major difference.

1. Healthy
Lifestyle and Immunization:

More than 30
percent of cancers can be avoided by a safe lifestyle or cancer immunization
that induces infections (Hepatitis B Virus, Human papillomavirus)

2. Avoid Tobacco

It is necessary to
keep yourself away from the risk factors of cancer for cancer prevention. The
main risk factor for cigarettes and nicotine, for example, has been related to
a number of cancer types: lung cancer. It may even encourage you to avoid
smoking or chewing tobacco by preferring recovery centers.

3. Follow a Healthy
Diet:

While cancer avoidance cannot be assured by maintaining a balanced diet, it may help minimize the risk of cancer. A lot of fruits and vegetables may be part of a balanced diet. Both high-calorie foods, like processed sugars that could make you fat, should be avoided. You should also monitor the alcohol consumption habits to prevent liver, breast, colon, lung, kidney, and other cancers.

4. staying
physically active and keeping a healthier weight:

Different types of
cancer, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer,
and kidney cancer, can lower the risk.

5.
