The beginning of the World Kindness Day takes back to 1997 when Small Kindness Movement ( an organization formed at a Tokyo conference in 1997) held a conference and brought kindness organizations of multiple nations together and emphasized the necessity of a global kindness movement. At those conference participants from all over the world came and share their stories related to the kindness movements that they have started in their own countries.

In 2000 November, The World Kindness Movement was also launched in Singapore. World Kindness Day is observed in various countries, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Italy, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, over 28 countries are a part of the World Kindness Movement group.
