Know About World IVF Day and When It Is Celebrated

World IVF Day is also known as World Embryologist Day.  On the 25th of July every year, World IVF Day is celebrated. This day is marked because the first child was conceived and born on this day. From that day onwards, this date is considered World IVF Day.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), this technique benefits those who want to get pregnant. Louise Brown became the first IVF birth baby on 25 July 1978. The world’s first test tube baby was introduced when Louise Brown was born in Bourn Hall using the IVF technique.

IVF is ubiquitous, but many people have many misconceptions about this technology. They often question whether their IVF baby is as healthy as usual.

What is IVF Technology?

One of the medical procedures that helps people with reproductive issues is in vitro fertilisation (IVF), also known as a test tube baby. Because the leading IVF clinics in India are adopting cutting-edge IVF treatments to assist infertile couples with fertility challenges, IVF in India is currently more successful.

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is one of India’s most straightforward, sophisticated techniques for IVF therapy. When a couple is unable to conceive, this procedure is used. It is a sort of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) that aids in boosting fertilisation chances.

If the idea and information are understood, and societies open up to new experiments, every couple will soon be able to have children with the help of IVF technology.

Process of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)

One of the most crucial steps to pregnancy is the fusion of sperm and egg, but several things might prevent this from happening naturally, resulting in infertility. IVF, famous as a “test tube baby,” is an assisted reproductive technique in which the male sperm and female eggs are fertilized outside the body in a laboratory dish.

One or more of the egg cells are subsequently implanted in the woman’s womb, where they can develop and attach to the uterine lining. One of the most popular ART methods, it is used to treat infertility caused by several diseases, such as endometriosis, blocked fallopian tubes, and infertility, when the underlying cause of the condition is unknown.

Know PGT (Preimplantation Genetic Testing)

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a primary method of prenatal genetic diagnosis in which only genetically healthy embryos are used for implantation once defective embryos have been discovered. Couples who are either carriers of or afflicted with genetic abnormalities that can be passed on to their offspring would benefit significantly from this procedure.

It entails removing a small portion of the embryo’s cells and putting them through a series of genetic tests to look for any chromosome or gene changes. This increases the likelihood of a healthy pregnancy by making it possible to identify and choose genetically healthy embryos.

To sum up, scientific developments have enabled us to cure many infertile couples, assuming they seek care promptly. Because the field is continually growing, newer approaches help us understand the causes of infertility and more effectively address these issues.

Conclusion for World IVF Day

More than three million infants have been born worldwide due to this method developed in Bourn Hall, United Kingdom. In India, 40,000 fertility treatment cycles are currently carried out nationwide, up from 7,000 cycles in 2000.

Hoda Abou Jamra, Group CEO of Bourn Hall International, further discussed the significance of high-quality healthcare, stating, “We focus on bringing the internationally recognized standard of care to emerging markets such as India for married people here to benefit from the experience and expertise of fertility care from the West.

IVF technology has advanced significantly since 1998; according to embryologists, this procedure is now more precise and safe, thanks to updated tools and technology. The public should be aware of the ease with which the IVF procedure may offer happiness to childless families and that the kid born from IVF is wholly natural.
