  • Dr. Naresh Trehan is one of the most highly regarded cardiovascular surgeons in the world. He’s currently serving as the Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta - The Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon.

  • Naresh Trehan, who practiced at the New York University Medical Center in Manhattan, USA, from 1971 to 1988 after receiving his MBBS from India.

  • In 1988, he made his way back to India and began working at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center. 

  • He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award.

  • More than 48,000 heart surgeries have been carried out by him, including minimally invasive coronary artery surgery,reduction ventriculoplasty (Batista Operation), heart port access surgery, coronary artery, valve, carotid artery, aortic aneurysm, cardiomyoplasty, cardiac arrhythmias, and robotically assisted cardiac surgery with excellent outcomes. In India, several of these procedures were carried out for the first time.

  • Former president of International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS), USA, and member of prestigious organizations like Society of Thoracic Surgeons of the USA and The European Association for Cardio-thoracic Surgery, to name a few.

  • Dr. Trehan also specializes in Cardiovascular diseases and Cardiothoracic surgery like thoracic surgeries including chest wall defects, heart attacks, heart failure, video-assisted minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, heart disease, lung cancer, etc.

  • For his Medical school, Dr. Naresh went to King George's Medical University, Lucknow in 1968, followed by doing Diploma studies in cardiothoracic surgeries from the American Board of Surgery, USA.

  • He also acquired a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.
